In high school, I wrote:
a great deal (for instance, multiple long essays each year).
very little or completed only short, simple assignments.
In high school, I wrote:
many different types (literary analyses, research papers, online projects, etc.).
only one or two types.
When I think about the organization of my writing:
I feel confident organizing my paper around a focused idea and then including evidence to develop that idea.
I have a hard time organizing my paper around one idea and/or fully developing that one idea.
When I think about using research or sources:
I feel confident finding, evaluating, incorporating, and citing research in my writing.
finding, evaluating, incorporating, and citing research in my writing is often difficult for me.
When reflecting on my revision of writing:
I am confident in my ability to revise and/or edit my own writing.
I often rely on others (parents, teachers, sibling, friends, etc.) to revise and/or edit my work.
In high school, I usually:
was satisfied and gained confidence based on the feedback and/or grade I received on writing assignments.
was not satisfied and lost confidence based on the feedback and/or grades I received on writing assignments.
I rarely received feedback from teachers or others on my writing assignments.
When I read for school:
I am a careful reader and often take notes or annotate my texts.
I do not take notes and frequently “skim” the material.
When thinking about college writing courses:
I am a confident writer and expect to do well in college writing.
I am not confident in my writing and worry that college writing may be difficult for me.
